Dorset is a great place to live, work and learn. Our staff benefit from a unique environment, as more than 50% of the county is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Jurassic Coast has World Heritage Site status.
Dorset County Council has a focussed ambition to maintain a vibrant economy and help all of our residents to be safe, healthy and independent. We are committed to confront inequality and do more for those people in Dorset who, due to their circumstances, have poorer outcomes in life.
We always look for opportunities to work with other organisations as well as people and communities themselves, to reach the best possible outcomes.
Our Adult and Community service provision is transforming to further develop integrated services with our NHS partners in both acute hospital and community settings, as well as working closely in multi- agency teams in the voluntary sector and in our communities.
We are person centred and listen to the people who use our services. We believe people want to be independent and therefore our services are focussed on recovery, reablement, and on promoting independence, choice and control.
Our Children’s Services aspiration is for children and young people to be safe, healthy, and to have access to good quality education and be confident and successful learners. This means we put the child at the heart of everything we do; we enable parents to become resilient and self -reliant by working alongside, not doing things for them.
Professionals working with children and families in Dorset relentlessly focus on outcomes and making a difference in children’s lives. We practically test what difference is actually being made. Furthermore workers are empowered and supported to make professional judgements and to be accountable for them.
A recent Ofsted inspection acknowledged ‘we really know ourselves and have an ambitious and deliverable plan with a clear vision and road map to strengthen our multi agency working and re-invigorating social work’.
Both Adult’s and Children’s Directorates offer an attractive and competitive range of benefits including a relocation package, robust Performance and Development Reviews and Continued Professional Development in partnership with Bournemouth University and the Pan Dorset Social Care and Health Academy.
